Performance Methodology
Exactly how VELOPICKS calculates the figures shown on our Results page.
Last Updated: September 9, 20261. What Counts as a Settled Pick
Every real, production pick VELOPICKS publishes — sports and stock — is tracked from the moment it's published until it settles. Sports picks are settled automatically once official final results are available; stock picks are settled against the official closing price of the applicable evaluation session. A pick that can't yet be settled stays PENDING and is excluded from all performance figures until it settles. Development/test predictions — generated while our sports data provider is connected in trial mode, used only to verify the pipeline is working — are never included in Results, Today's Record, or any other public performance figure, regardless of how they settle.
2. How Units Are Calculated
VELOPICKS uses a real, odds-adjusted unit convention based on a standard 1-unit risk per pick. A win pays the real profit implied by the American odds attached to that pick at the moment it was published (for example, −110 pays +0.91u, +150 pays +1.50u), a loss costs exactly −1 unit, and a push or void contributes 0 units. Net units shown on the Results page and in your Dashboard are the sum of these real values across the settled picks in view. When a pick has no odds attached at publication, it still counts toward win rate and record, but is excluded from the unit-return total rather than assigned a guessed profit — shown as “—” in the Recent Picks list.
3. How Win Rate Is Calculated
Win rate = wins ÷ (wins + losses) × 100, calculated across settled picks only. Pushes, voids, and pending picks are excluded from both the numerator and denominator, since they represent an outcome that was neither a win nor a loss.
4. Pushes & Void Picks
A push occurs when a sports pick's selected team and its opponent finish exactly tied, or when a stock pick's closing price is unchanged from its reference price. A pick is marked void if no official result becomes available within a reasonable window after the event, or if the event was canceled or postponed — it is never guessed as a win or loss. In tennis, a walkover (a match that was never played) is void; a retirement is settled on the official result, the player who advanced.
5. No Cherry-Picking
Performance figures on VELOPICKS include every published pick that has settled — winning and losing alike. Filtering by sport or timeframe on the Results page changes which already-settled picks are shown; it does not exclude losing picks from the underlying calculation.
6. Not Your Personal Results
Figures on the Results page reflect VELOPICKS's own pick history, not any individual user's wagering or investing results, which will vary based on stake size, timing, and platform used. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
